Appointment: A 12 month, tenure-track position at the Associate Professor level in the new Department of Nutrition and Food Science; a 9-month tenure-track Full Professor appointment may also be considered. This position is funded 100% from Texas A&M University.

General Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a competitive, extramurally-funded enology research program. It is anticipated that state-of-the-art chemical, physical, and sensory evaluation procedures will be used to evaluate the effect of grape (including Vitis Vinifera, French x American hybrids, and Pierce’s Disease tolerant American hybrid cultivars), viticulture practice, climate, harvesting, and postharvest processes on fruit, juice, must, and wine quality. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels and contribute to academic service. Preference will be given to applicants with significant skills and experience in the principles of winemaking who desire to participate in multidisciplinary research and education programs that will improve the quality of Texas wines.

Qualifications: Requirements include a PhD in enology, food science, or related field with demonstrated knowledge and expertise in enology or related field. The potential for research productivity and grantsmanship should be apparent in the application. A research seminar will be required at interview. Applicants at the Full Professor level must have a sufficient teaching and research record for the granting of tenure at Texas A&M University.
