What Information Does ASEV Collect?
Most data ASEV collects are used only to help us better serve our members. It is our general policy to collect and store only personal information that our members and visitors knowingly provide.

Information Collected from General Users: ASEV does not collect any personal information from Users browsing its Web site. Only aggregate data — such as the number of hits per page — are collected. Aggregate data are only used for internal and marketing purposes and do not provide any personally identifying information.

General Contact Form: http://www.asev.org/ has a function that allows you to provide inquiries and feedback to ASEV by e-mail. The choice of how much personal information you choose to disclose is left completely up to you. ASEV does make its conference registration database lists available to industry-related vendors who are contracted in its trade shows for the purpose of presenting information about their products, services and special offers. The conference directories are also offered for sale.  If you choose to register for any ASEV hosted conference, your contact information will be added to the ASEV registration database and ultimately the conference directory of registrants. This is a condition of registering for an ASEV conference.

Use of Session and IP addresses: We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer our Web site. Our Web site uses Session to keep track of various functions within the Web site.

How Does ASEV Use Cookies?

This is a one semester, non-tenure-track faculty position in the life and physical sciences department. The anticipated start date is August 2006.  The faculty member will provide instruction 65% of load and coordinate 35% of load; provide instruction with a primary emphasis in enology and/or viticulture; the teaching assignment may also include courses in the agribusiness; evaluate and counsel students; plan and organize instructional materials toward course objectives; participate in program review and curriculum development; review and revise courses(s) content as may be necessary; maintain five (5) required office hours for student consultation; participate in department and college activities; maintain class and attendance records, according to college regulations; coordinate and develop the program, including the hiring of part-time agribusiness faculty; coordinate care and maintenance of four acre vineyard; oversee district and grant funded budgets; articulate the program with universities; plan activities in conjunction with other educational institutions and local agribusinesses; promote the program in the community and with industry; participate on various advising committees; and perform related tasks as required.

The assignment may include teaching evening and weekend classes, and/or a dual assignment at the Santa Maria campus and Lompoc Valley Center or other off-campus sites.

* August 2006, pending board approval.

SALARY AND FRINGE BENEFITS
* Hiring salary range is $41,305 to $60,008 depending upon education and experience.  A doctoral stipend of $1,502 is paid to those who qualify.

QUALIFICATIONS PROFILE
* Master’s or higher degree in agriculture, agriculture science or education with a specialization in viticulture, or enology;  OR a bachelor’s in any of the above AND a master’s in fruit science, viticulture, plant science, environmental horticulture, or enology; OR the equivalent; OR a valid California community college instructor credential authorizing the applicant to teach in the discipline
* Significant coursework in enology and/or viticulture
* An educational philosophy which places the primary emphasis on student learning in the design, delivery, and evaluation of courses
* Demonstrated understanding of various learning styles as demonstrated in the development of course materials and assessments of student learning
* Demonstrated teaching experience including the ability to plan, organize, and present lecture material
* Demonstrated experience integrating new technologies into the learning process
* Demonstrated knowledge of skills to match learners, technologies, and instructional support
* Demonstrated ability to develop and use resource materials
* Demonstrated ability to design, review, and evaluate curriculum, and make recommendations to maintain program currency for both vocational and transfer students
* Demonstrated ability to work with and assist students having a great range of skills, motivation, and academic or vocational goals.
* Demonstrated success with initiation, execution, and follow-up on projects, including the ability to set specific objectives and measure achieved results
* Demonstrated knowledge of the interrelationship of critical thinking, reading, and writing
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written communication
* Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
* Evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and community college students and to staff and students with disabilities

In its desire to select outstanding faculty members from the largest possible pool of qualified applicants, Allan Hancock College recognizes the fact that candidates may have attained expertise in a discipline through a variety of means.  Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged by the district as equal to the above stated qualifications for this position.  Candidates who feel they possess such equivalent qualifications are encouraged to complete the equivalency form and provide appropriate documentation of their qualifications.

SCREENING PROCESS
A committee will review applications.  Meeting the stated qualifications does not assure a candidate an interview.  Therefore, it is important that the application be thorough and detailed.  Applicants will be assessed on the breadth and depth of education, training, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities.  A limited number of applicants will be invited for an interview at the college at their own expense.  All interviewed candidates will be asked to present a short teaching demonstration.  Final candidates may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
