Position Title:  Postdoctoral Associate - Viticulture

Position Description: The Institute for Continental Climate Viticulture and Enology (ICCVE) at the University of Missouri-Columbia invites applications for a postdoctoral associate to assist with viticulture research projects, supervised by Enology faculty, and collaborating with other members of the ICCVE team to advance and promote program efforts.  Specific duties will include: conducting viticulture experiments on canopy and crop load management of Norton grapevines, vineyard mechanization, and scion rootstock interactions; prepare reports proposals, manuscripts, and other written documents as required; provide assistance with workshops, conferences, field days, and short courses as required.

Qualifications: Earned PhD degree in viticulture, horticulture, or related fields is required. Laboratory experience and prior extension work experience with grape and wine industry preferred. Position Title: Extension Associate - Enology

Position Description: The Institute for Continental Climate Viticulture and Enology (ICCVE) at the University of Missouri-Columbia invites applications for a non-tenure-track position, reporting to Program Leader. Successful candidate will collaborate with other members of the ICCVE team to advance and promote program efforts by: conducting an advisory program for Missouri winemakers by presenting current and relevant enology information to winemakers at meetings, workshops, conferences, short courses or field days; making individual winery visits; writing bulletins, reports, newsletter articles, electronic advisories and responding promptly to individual requests for information by phone, letter, or e-mail; publishing (with Extension Associate - Viticulture) the ICCVE newsletter on a quarterly basis; assisting with planning and implementation of the Midwest Grape and Wine Conference; maintaining enology program extension files and records; assisting with applied research based on industry needs and priorities; supervising winemaking at the ICCVE experimental winery; performing other duties assigned by Enology Program Leader to insure success of the Institute.

Qualifications:  Earned Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in enology, food science or related fields; two years of commercial or experimental wine making experience; prior extension or work experience with grape and wine industry; applied enology research experience. Position Title:  Extension Assistant - Viticulture

Position Description: The Institute for Continental Climate Viticulture and Enology (ICCVE) at the University of Missouri-Columbia invites applications for a non-tenure-track position, reporting to Program Leader and Extension Associate.  The successful candidate will collaborate with other members of the ICCVE team to advance and promote program efforts by: assisting the establishment and maintenance of vineyard Best Management Practices Project (BMPP) demonstration and verification plots at “lighthouse” vineyard locations in Arkansas and Missouri; providing effective and efficient management of BMP field plots and demonstration sites (including ordering supplies, ordering and maintenance of equipment, utilization of field and laboratory labor); collecting, managing, and statistically analyzing data from BMP demonstration and verification plots; assisting Viticulture Extension Associate with maintaining BMP project files and records; providing assistance with BMP tailgate meetings; assisting with workshops, conferences, field days, and short courses as required; preparing reports, proposals, newsletter articles, and other written documents as required; performing other duties as assigned by the Viticulture Extension Associate to insure the success of the Best Management Practices Project and the Institute.
