National Clonal Germplasm Repository for Tree Fruit & Nut Crops & Grapes, Davis, CA
The USDA, Agricultural Research Service is seeking an outstanding research scientist for a permanent full-time Research Leader position. This position is an opportunity to lead a key repository within the National Plant Germplasm System and conduct cutting-edge research to support the preservation and utilization of the repository collections. This germplasm collection includes many of the Mediterranean adapted fruit and nut tree crops including grapes, Prunus spp, walnuts, olives, figs, pomegranates and other specialty crop species important to US agriculture and healthy dietary choices. The Repository is located at, and operates cooperatively with, the University of California-Davis.
This position affords the opportunity to:
- Direct an exciting group of research and curatorial staff
- Work collaboratively with university faculty and industry leaders
- Conduct research to: advance genetic and phenotypic characterization, enhance propagation and maintenance, and optimize the phytosanitary status of the collection.
