Southern Oregon Research & Extension Center – Viticulturist

Research and Extension Instructor— The Oregon State University-Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center located in Central Point, Oregon seeks exceptional candidates for a regional viticulturist position. This is a full time 1.0 FTE, 12-month, fixed-term position. The successful candidate will develop a progressive viticulture Extension and applied research program for the southern Oregon wine industry. We are particularly interested in the development and implementation of programs that support sustainable management practices for warm climate Vitis vinifera grapes in Southern Oregon’s diverse growing regions. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic, high-profile industry; the faculty of the Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center; and the Oregon Wine Research Institute at Oregon State University. We require a MS in viticulture, horticulture or related science with demonstrated interest in delivering a contemporary Extension program and related applied research; demonstrated capacity for intellectual curiosity and creativity; evidence of ability to obtain outside funding to support programs/projects; evidence of ability for both leadership and collaboration in areas such as field plot research, demonstrations, and on-farm trials, contemporary media technologies, interdisciplinary teams; and demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills with keen interest in working with viticulturists and practitioners. Preferred qualifications include experience working with a viticulture industry, integrated farm systems, and diverse publics; and a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
