ASEV to Recognize Dr. Bisson with Highest Honor in June
Dr. Linda Bisson, a professor and geneticist at the University of California, Davis, joins a prestigious group of wine and grape industry leaders who have received the ASEV’s Merit Award for outstanding contribution to the Society and the industry.
Dr. Bisson will present her Merit Award Presentation at the 65th ASEV National Conference in Austin on June 26.
As a trained yeast geneticist and physiologist, Dr. Bisson focuses her research on sugar catabolism and the understanding of metabolic basis for slow and incomplete fermentations. She currently serves as the Science Editor for the American Journal of Enology and Viticulture and has held this position for more than a decade. She is a four-time ASEV Best Enology Paper Award author, the 2000 Honorary Research Lecturer and a long-time ASEV member, who has served as a Board Director for a two-year term (1988-1990) and on many committees, including scholarship, publications, technical projects and program organizing and planning. Her dedication and leadership is also pivotal in the Department of Viticulture and Enology at the University of California, Davis, where she is a professor, previous Department Chair, which included the prestigious Maynard A. Amerine Endowed Chair funded by Ernest Gallo, Chair of the UC Davis Academic Senate and, most recently, recipient of the prestigious University of California, Davis’ Charles P. Nash Prize.
