Mission: The Technical Projects Committee (TPC) brings technical issues in viticulture and enology into focus by defining questions in the wine industry and working toward answers based on relevant and scientifically rigorous information on selected topics. Additionally, the ASEV-TPC provides technical information that regulatory agencies may use to assist in policy making decisions. It aids research funding agencies by highlighting national and regional research through the development of seminars, workshops and symposia.
The committee is comprised of ASEV professional members and is chaired by Steve Kupina, the TPC Interim Director. The TPC Director is a member of the ASEV Board of Directors. The Director is responsible for initiating, coordinating and supervising technical projects of interest to the Society’s membership through TPC activities. The TPC maintains a list of technical issues important to the wine and grape industry that become proposed topics for future annual meetings and the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium.
An important part of these activities includes the TPC Laboratory Proficiency Testing Guidance Committee (LPTGC). This lab quality assurance program is currently contracted by Collaborative Testing Services and the reports of these testing cycles are provided on an anonymous basis.
