Position Overview:

Texas Tech University (TTU) Department of Plant and Soil Science (Lubbock, Texas), is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate. This position is a possible 2 year commitment, and requires a recent (within the past 4 years) Ph.D. Based upon funding, the position will be available no later than September 1, 2019.

Major responsibilities will include but are not limited to producing peer-reviewed publications of current and previously conducted viticulture / horticulture research, providing support to ongoing and future viticulture research projects being conducted on the High Plains of Texas, working with, and supervising hourly and full-time technician employees, contributing to writing of research grants, assisting in management of a newly planted research vineyard, and collaborating with members of the TTU viticulture and enology research team.

This position will be based in Lubbock, Texas (near the center of the Texas grape growing industry), and will provide excellent opportunities for networking, and professional growth with industry and other researchers within Texas, and across the nation.

Position requirements include:

  • Earned Ph.D. in viticulture, or closely related field
  • Experience, skill, and knowledge of production viticulture, irrigation, grapevine physiology (strong understanding of methods for measuring / estimating vine water status and gas exchange), and field research techniques
  • Demonstrated publication record
  • Proven work ethic
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Self-motivation
  • Valid driver’s license
