The ASEV Board has confirmed that they
will adopt a hybrid open access model for both ASEV journals:
American Journal of Enology
and Viticulture and Catalyst: Discovery into
Practice, effective January 1, 2021. This shift will bring
both journals into compliance with Plan S, which requires open
access (OA) publishing for research published by authors
receiving funding from cOAlition S-affiliated funders. Open
access articles will be free on ajevonline.org and asevcatalyst.org.
We are pleased to offer the Call
for Abstracts for the 72nd ASEV National
Conference. The extended deadline for submission is March
1, 2021.
ASEV encourages the submission of abstracts based on original
research and research updates in all areas of viticulture and
enology. Additionally, we would like to see abstracts in
the following research areas:
Climate and other environmental issues
Irrigation management
Trunk disease management
Tactics in vineyard wildlife prevention
Impact of smoke exposure on grape and wine composition
The National Conference provides a forum for the dissemination of
research in the fields of enology and viticulture or related
sciences. An abstract can be submitted independent of publication
of a paper, and we welcome abstracts for both ongoing and
completed research projects. Accepted abstracts will be presented
at the 72nd ASEV National Conference.
The in-person meeting in Monterey, California USA was
canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions. The conference will
now be held virtually.
The Unified Symposium is offering a grapegrowing session
on varietals with an option to participate in a tasting. The
session will examine some of the varietal options
available to winegrowers, the benefits of those varietals, and
taste commercially produced, pure varietal wines from Dr. Andy
Walker’s new Pierce’s Disease-resistant hybrid grapevines.
Speakers Chuck Wagner of Wagner Family of Wine and Adam Tolmach
of The Ojai Vineyard will also share their experience in growing
and producing wines.
Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a tasting
kit for $75 with five different wines in 187 mL
bottles (a pour and half). Pre-orders are now available until
sold out.
Please note that you do not need to purchase a kit to attend
this session.
