JF Guymon Lecture

Overview

JF Guymon Lecture

The JF Guymon Lectureship was created in 1979 by Jim Guymon’s family with memorial contributions made after he passed away. Professor Emeritus Guymon was an enologist who devoted 38 years to teaching, research and service in the area of brandy production and wine biochemistry. This lectureship fund was created for use by the Department of Viticulture and Enology at the University of California, Davis.

The James F. Guymon Lectureship shall be given to an individual who has contributed significantly to the understanding of wine distillation, wine processing, wine chemistry and microbiology, sensory evaluation of wine or the treatment of winery waste. The recipient shall be chosen by the faculty of the Department of Viticulture and Enology and shall present the JF Guymon lecture at the ASEV national conference or at other prominent scientific venues, as the Department faculty may determine.

The UC Davis Department of Viticulture and Enology selects a lecturer for years they identify an appropriate recipient. The JF Guymon Lectureship has been presented at many of the past ASEV conferences of the American Society of Enology and Viticulture (ASEV).  Following are a list of recipients for the years that a lecturer was selected.
