Enjoy Portland’s Food, Arts and Stunning Landscapes for the 75th ASEV National Conference in June

Situated in the beautiful Willamette Valley, the city of Portland is surrounded by lush forests, rivers, and nearby mountains, with easy access to outdoor recreational activities such as hiking and cycling. Known for its strong commitment to environmental preservation and green living, Portland is also renowned for its diverse and vibrant food and drink scene. Portland is famous for its craft breweries, coffee roasters, and artisanal food producers.

Join ASEV this June as we host the 75th National Conference in Portland, where wine flows from urban wineries tucked in neighborhoods to the sprawling vineyards in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The Willamette Valley (WVWA) sits between Oregon’s Cascade Mountains and the Coast Range, with 3,438,000 acres of vineyard that is more than 100 miles long and spanning 60 miles at its widest point.

While best known for its Pinot noir, Oregon’s wine industry has built a reputation as one of the world’s top producers of high-quality wines over the past 50 years. WVWA produces many varietals including Pinot noir, Pinot gris, Chardonnay, Syrah, Riesling, Pinot blanc, Gamay noir, and more. Some of these will be featured at the Regional Wine Reception at the ASEV National Conference.

This year’s conference highlights include:

  • Red Blotch Symposium: Recent Advances in Grapevine Red Blotch Virus (GRBV) Vectors and Management
  • Merit Award Presentation by Dr. Tony Wolf, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg
  • ASEV Extension Distinction Award Presentation by Mr. Mark Battany, University of California Cooperative Extension, San Luis Obispo County
  • Honorary Research Lecture by Dr. Andrew Waterhouse, University of California, Davis
  • Research Reports (submitted through Call for Abstracts)
  • Student Flash Talks
  • Regional Wine Reception
  • Student-Industry Mixer
