In light of the rapidly changing events due to the COVID-19
pandemic, the ASEV Board has made the difficult decision to
cancel the Joint National Conference and ASEV Eastern Section
Annual Meeting set to take place in Portland, Oregon, this June.
ASEV’s priority is to safeguard the health of our members and
attendees, and to comply with
guidance for large events from the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC).
As we navigate through these next few months, the Board will
continue to examine ways to disseminate the important work that
has been assembled for this conference. This year’s conference
had invited and secured over 150 speakers from around the world,
including
Merit Award recipient Dr. Hildegarde
Heymann;
Extension Distinction Award recipient Dr. Michelle
Moyer; Honorary Research Lecturer Dr. Hans
Schultz; and Keynote Speaker Dr. Gavin
Sacks. We appreciate that invited speakers, professors
and students have spent many hours developing their abstracts,
posters and presentations for this conference, and we are looking
for new ways to share this information through other formats. We
are grateful for the strong support from our sponsors, as well as
the ASEV Board and volunteers who worked hard to put this event
together. While this decision was difficult, we hope you’ll agree
with us that it was a necessary step.
ASEV will be providing more information as it becomes available.
If you have any questions or concerns, email ASEV
at info@asev.org as our office
will be working remotely until further notice.
Approved by the ASEV Board of Directors on January 19, 2021.
