Deadline to nominate for the Merit
Award is fast approaching. This distinguished award honors an
individual who has contributed to the progress and advancement of
enology and viticulture in an outstanding and distinguished
manner for the Society and/or wine industry. Know someone?
Deadline to nominate is November 1.
Recent award recipients include Douglas O. Adams, E.B.
“Pete” Downs, Linda Bisson, Jim Wolpert, Roger Boulton and Jerry

Nomination for the ASEV Extension Distinction
Award is due November 1. This award recognizes a current
extension educator based on his or her outstanding contribution
of: (1) information in enology and viticulture through his
or her program, or (2) the translation of novel research findings
into commercially applicable tools for enologists or
viticulturists.
Those who submitted in 2016 need not re-submit. Submissions from
2016 that were not chosen were saved and will be considered for
2017.
The Unified Wine & Grape Symposium will open its registration and
housing on Tuesday, October 25 at 9 a.m. (PDT).

Don’t wait! Seats are limited for programs such as Tuesday’s
keynote luncheon, featuring New York Times wine columnist and
author Eric Asimov.
It’s also a good reminder to renew your ASEV dues for 2017 when
invoices are sent in November. Members who attend the National
Conference and Unified Symposium can recoup their entire dues in
exclusive member discounts alone.
ASEV is pleased to announce the purchase of its new offices
located in Davis, California. The board approved the
purchase of the ASEV offices after much thought, consideration,
and consultation on the best investment options for the
organization.
The new offices in Davis, 1724 Picasso Ave, are located
just one building away in the same office condominium complex as
the current offices. This new space will provide staff and board
members an additional 2,340 square feet. The offices are
currently under renovation with an anticipated move-in date of
2017.
