Wine & Grape Society Announces Foundation to Help Foster the Next Generation of Leaders
DAVIS, Calif., June 7, 2023…Students pursuing a degree in enology and viticulture over the past few decades have turned to the American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV) for scholarships to fund their educational and budding career trajectories. On average, the Society presents $100,000 in scholarships annually to 20-plus students throughout North America. To sustain this effort into the future, ASEV created the American Society for Enology and Viticulture Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to engage in additional charitable and educational activities beyond providing scholarships and other educational opportunities.
“The industry looks to ASEV for the fundamental, high-quality scientific information that is vital to driving innovation. To succeed in this, we recognize the need to support the development of the next generation of talented students who will serve in important academic, industry and governmental roles in the future.,” says Keith Striegler, ASEV Board & Foundation President. “We are proud to establish the ASEV Foundation in support of one of ASEV’s most important functions.”
The ASEV Foundation was created in February 2023. Contributions to the ASEV Foundation can have a significant impact on the future of the wine industry by supporting undergraduate and graduate student scholarships, and educational opportunities for professionals in the industry.
The ASEV Foundation Board of Directors includes Keith Striegler, President, from E. &. J. Gallo Winery; Michelle Moyer, Vice President, from Washington State University, Prosser; James Osborne, Treasurer, from Oregon State University, Corvallis; and Anita Oberholster, Secretary, from the University of California, Davis.
