ASEV National Conference Highlights This June in Monterey
For those seeking a deeper dive into the technical aspects
of winemaking and grapegrowing, the ASEV National Conference offers
three days of networking,
information sharing and tastings. This is the opportunity to hear
from leading experts on Brettanomyces, aroma and flavor
perception, polyphenols and
extension
practices, to name a few. Wrapped around these highlighted
talks are a host of other presentations, including the Keynote Presentation from Dr. Mark
Matthews of U.C. Davis, who will talk about the myths and
measurements of wine quality, poster sessions, student flash talks, interactive industry seminars, supplier displays, a practical
outreach seminar that
focuses on current issues in California, and research reports on wine phenolics,
wine metals and reactivity, microbiology, diseases, crop load
management and viticulture research from the East Coast to the
West Coast. This annual event provides a place for not only
learning and meeting people but for developing professional
skills for students and early career members. This June,
attendees will have an opportunity to hear from Fritz Westover of
Westover Vineyard Advising at the early career member
lunch and take home practical tips and advice on how to
succeed in the industry. A Wednesday night reception and the
Student-Industry Mixer, sponsored by Monterey Wines, will
showcase Monterey regional wines and offer a chance to catch up
with friends and colleagues.
